Intentionally Designed Content
This program revolves around two main goals for learners:
- to gain an understanding of the standard principles, tools and techniques of modern recording and audio production
- and, to develop a practical approach to using these standards by engineering a multi-track audio recording
The course has two sections. The first five weeks unfold in a relatively traditional lecture/classroom format with pencil-and-paper quizzes to measure concept understanding. Then, recording studio laboratory hours begin. Students will be guided in the process of setting up for, capturing, and processing multi-track audio. During this time, lecture and demonstration will still occur in the classroom but the topics will shift to topics relevant to the procedures of recording and mixing audio.
